Irritation VS Allergies

UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALLERGIES AND IRRITATIONS.

First of all, what is an allergy?

It's the immune system's hypersensitivity to an antigen, generally foreign to thebody, which provokes an abnormal reaction and excessive defense of the body. An allergy is triggered by contact with a molecule known as an allergen .And the longer you remain in contact with this allergen, the stronger your reaction to it will be, and the worse it will become over time. Contact" allergies to cosmetics are common, affecting 2% of the European population.

Symptoms of an allergy include redness, swelling and pruritus.

Next, what is irritation?

The trickiest thing about irritation is that it's extremely difficult to distinguish it from allergies, as it often causes the same symptoms. Irritation is caused in particular by the use of cosmetics unsuited to the skin type. The reaction is immediate and limited to the area of contact, whereas in the case of allergy, it is delayed and extends far beyond.

It resembles an allergy, but one of the main distinctions is that irritation is generally short-lived: it disappears after around 24 hours and improves over time, unlike allergies.

Symptoms of irritation include tingling, tightness, burning and little or no pruritus.

Skin irritation promotes sensitization to an allergen, as the role of the skin barrier is diminished.

But how can you prevent and avoid this for your customers?

For an allergic reaction :

If your client is afraid of having an allergic reaction, suggest that she take an allergy test 48 hours before her appointment:

- Apply a small amount of the product to the crease of the elbow
- Watch for any reactions: first within a few minutes, then 1 hour later, and finally the next day, and even the day after that...

If 48 hours later all is well, it's likely that your customer is tolerating the product well!
What your client can also do if she thinks she's having an allergic reaction and it's not just a simple irritation, is to take an antihistamine. This will relieve his symptoms. It's also a great way to check for allergies. If the drug works, it's definitely a drug.

For irritation :

The best way to avoid irritation is to limit the amount of vapors to which you and your customers are exposed. Use the right techniques and follow all the necessary safety procedures to keep your customers healthy and safe!

What can a professional do to reduce the potential risks of irritation and allergies?

  • Know your environment. Each eyelash treatment room must be equipped with a thermometer, a hydrometer and a good ventilation system (to ensure the right level of humidity).
  • Know your products and their ingredients.
  • Carry out treatment in a clean, orderly environment, free from obstructions and distractions.
  • Measure the glue correctly
  • Isolate each lash and avoid clumping
  • Use a slightly damp brush to neutralize the glue if you don't have nano
  • Use a
    NANO MISTER ROXILS
which isa spray bottle that comes with a kit and a refill bottle. Itdries gluequickly andreduces irritation!
